It was an egg-cellent time for children and families at Living in Triumph’s 3rd annual Easter Egg Hunt at August Horst Park in Navasota. The event co-hosted by the City of Navasota featured Easter fun including an egg hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny, refreshments and more.

There was certainly a good turnout for the Iola Food Pantry March 16, at the Iola Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. A total of 86 people including five new people received food. The food distributed will feed around 230 people. There was a variety of food including frozen food, vegetables, canned goods and other items as well. Volunteers helped set up the pantry the day before. The pantry is open the third Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. Volunteers are needed the Friday before around noon for setup.

Texas voters planning to vote by mail must apply for the ballot through ballot by mail or federal postcard applications. The deadline for sending in the mail-in ballot application is May 17.

I know most of you have heard the phrase “when you get older time flies by faster.” My mom always told me that when I was younger, and I always told her that doesn’t make sense. Now that I am way older and smarter, I found out that is a true story. It’s not that time goes by faster; I just can’t get as much done in an hour as I did when I was younger. I certainly can’t multi-task like I used to.

Navasota Garden Club presented its March Yard of the Month award to Joel and Sherry Gillespie for their home at 615 Holland Street. Among the salient features of the landscaping are Peggy Martin Roses climbing the trellis, Snapdragons, Viola Pansies, Blue Salvia and cone flowers in the beds. The manicured lawn includes Magnolia and Red Bud trees.

The Richards Civic Club Food Pantry served 17 families, March 7. Each first Thursday of the month, the food pantry distributes food to people in need.
