The sold-out crowd enjoyed the circus themed awards banquet presented by Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Director Lucy Ybarra was pleased to present a banquet sourced solely in Grimes County from decorations, circus performers which included Navasota Junior High seventh grader Kya Hill, pork loin and seafood pasta catered by McGinty’s Best Thing Smoking, wine from local wineries and auction items that featured local stay and play packages, a locally built BodyBilt office chair, etc.

Navasota Police and Navasota Firefighters responded to the 1100 block of West Washington Avenue around 11:30 p.m. March 12, for a single-vehicle rollover. The Ford Mustang struck at least two power poles and live wires ignited a small grass fire.

According to Reyna, the Utility Capital Improvement Project bids open March 30 and the award recommendation will be brought to council April 10.
Parts for phase two of the Wastewater Treatment Plant repairs have been ordered and Reyna anticipates completion in July or August.
Bids open March 16 for the City’s extensive fire hydrant replacement project and will be awarded March 27.

This year's theme is empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of a person by imagining what it would be like to be in that person's situation. TCFB staff said, "During the recent years of difficulties, division, isolation, and loss, the TCFB recognizes the importance of sharing our stories to build understanding and support. Literature—by definition a way of sharing in a story other than our own—can be one of the many routes to empathy."

The conference provided city leaders with a strategic look at key issues affecting cities, the state, and the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of municipal issues. Attendees heard from State Comptroller Glenn Hegar; Texas Department of Emergency Management Deputy Chiefs Suzannah Jones and Warren Weidler; Texas Water Development Board Member George B Peyton V; Texas Transportation Institute Research Scientist Nicole Katsikides PhD; and former Texas House Speaker Joe Strauss III.
