PLANTERSVILLE – Mark your calendars for the 44th Annual Plantersville-Stoneham Volunteer Fire Department Bazaar Sunday, April 16.
The Bazaar begins at 11 a.m. at the PSVFD Fire Station, 15985 FM 1774. There will be music, food, live and silent auction, raffle, drinks, games and entertainment for children. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet your local firefighters and raise funds for the department.

Navasota High School senior, Daana Mena, was awarded a $105,000 scholarship by the U.S. Army ROTC. Mena will attend Texas A&M University as a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets. Following graduation from TAMU, she will enter the U.S. Army as an officer. Her scholarship includes full tuition for 4 years, room and board, a $420/month stipend, and $1,500/year for textbooks. A celebration was held March 30.

The Navasota High School Robotics team, Bionic Vipers, placed 19th out of 34 teams at the District Space City Robotics Competition in League City. The Bionic Vipers won the 2023 Gracious Professionalism Award, an award given to a team that shows outstanding demonstration of FIRST Core Values.

Attendees at the Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce Lunch-N-Learn April 29, at the Navasota Center learned how to take their business to the next level with a Marketing 101 training hosted by The Examiner Newspaper. Training tips included how to set a marketing budget, utilizing co-op funds, different types of marketing and how each are beneficial and more. The Chamber offers monthly Lunch-N-Learns.

Grimes County Animal Rescue celebrated its grand opening and ribbon cutting Sunday, April 2, and officially opened April 3. The shelter originated as a service project by Kristen Keally Carroll for the Texas FFA Ford Leadership Scholars Program. Throughout the years and multiple fundraising events, the dream has come to fruition. Carroll thanked the community for their support constructing a facility to help tackle the stray animal problem in Grimes County. The shelter is located next to the Grimes County Business and Justice Center.
