Early voting started yesterday at the Bedias Civic Center, please take advantage of this opportunity to avoid the lines on election day, Nov. 3. Voting hours will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, Oct. 13 through Oct. 30; and extended hours on Tuesdays, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A party had been planned for the occasion but because of COVID-19, it was too dangerous for her to be around a lot of people. Therefore, a birthday parade was planned for Saturday, Oct. 3 instead. So, a collage of vehicles gathered at the old school gym parking lot.

Bean won Grand Champion for his pecan pie with chocolate drizzle and Bree won second for her pineapple cake and third on her cookies at last week’s Burleson County Fair. Maybe my “baker’s knee” can heal now. Their rabbits sold well too.

Read moreThe monthly meeting of the Keith Civic Club was held at the Keith Civic Community Center Thursday, Sept. 24. The covered dish meal was served at 6:30 p.m. and enjoyed by all. Following the meal, the following running for Iola School Board in November were allowed to speak: Tammy Harvey, Alec Pointer and Luke Bradicich. Each was allowed 10 minutes to make their appeal for votes. There are others that are running for school board as well. There will be another chance to hear them and others Saturday, Oct. 10, 3 p.m. at Iola Community Center. There are about 535 students that attend our school. If you wish to hear from the candidates make an appearance and ask them your questions.
