Saturday, Oct. 17, at 4 p.m. is the date set for our annual fish fry. The Bedias VFD has had to make tough decisions this year regarding our annual fundraiser due to COVID-19. With much regret, we will not be having our traditional live auction. However, we are very excited to announce we have chosen to raffle off 10 heifers for a total value of $11,500!

Christ Our Light Catholic Church will hold their 36th annual homecoming bazaar Sunday, Sept. 27 beginning at 11 a.m. Unlike other years, the bazaar will be held on the church grounds located at 9677 Hwy. 6 in Navasota instead of the fairgrounds. The safety of volunteers and visitors will be their top concern as they follow safety guidelines. Face coverings are encouraged. Fr. Eli Lopez invites everyone to come out and enjoy the fun-filled afternoon starting with a barbecue sausage dinner. A raffle will include a $5,000 Visa Gift Card; 54” Bad Boy Zero Turn Mower; MacBook Air Laptop, Apple Watch 5, Stihl Chain Saw and a 50” Flat Screen TV. There will be games, crafts and the live auction will begin at 1 p.m.

Christian film lovers. We do not feel like we can continue with our monthly movies, now or in the future. We are crushed in spirit and in body as we can no longer carry the expense of licensing the film showings and we were never able to build up audience attendance and support.

The Grimes County Senior Center (also known as the Sunshine Center) on Main St. in Anderson has been temporarily closed due to COVID-19 and the safety of our senior citizens. A while back the center did open back three days a week for Grab and Go dinners to take home.
