At the May 3 Regular Meeting of Grimes County Commissioners Court, commissioners declined to take action on Chief Deputy Martha Smith’s request to fill the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office vacant Livestock Officer position with a currently employed fulltime peace officer. The court did, however, approve her second request, the creation of a fulltime civilian GCSO Business Manager position.

Three PSVFD firefighters were presented service awards – Shaun Holmes, 20 years and David Waters and Eric Lathrop, 5 years each. PSVFD Fire Chief Jessica Bomar receives one of the new helmets purchased by their board of directors. All PSVFD firefighters received a new helmet.

Francine’s is owned by Gary and Frances Spivey, located at 21155 CR 124 in Iola. The soft opening and ribbon cutting was by invitation only, with Dylan Ault providing acoustic music. Grand opening will be Saturday, May 20, feature the Gatlin Brothers.
