More than 50 streets in Navasota will undergo rehabilitation and maintenance work starting at the end of the month. Navasota ISD Board of Trustee Member Position 5, Amy Jarvis was sworn-in for another term during the May 15 board meeting. Jarvis defeated Gremillion in the May 6 election. Tim Harris ran unopposed for place 4 but was unable to attend the meeting. He will be sworn-in in June.

Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ribbon Cutting for the Grimes Health Resource Center Community Closet Thursday, May 11, at their location 210 Judson Street in Navasota. GHRC are offering a clothes closet with a variety of clothing options for the whole family. James D. Harris was sworn-in as City of Navasota Councilmember Place 5 by Navasota Municipal Judge Patricia Gruner during a special meeting May 15. Harris defeated Patricia Tokoly with over 71% of the vote.

A Navasota Police Officer was rear-ended while responding to a separate accident on Texas 6 northbound May 13. Navasota Police responded around 11 a.m. to Texas 6 northbound at the Navasota River bridge for a report of a single vehicle car crash. Officers said the vehicle struck the river bridge barriers and was disabled in the left lane of traffic. The accident may have been attributed to wet road conditions from recent rain.
