Navasota Police Department announced the addition of two new police bicycles. The newly formed bike patrol unit will primarily be utilized for events and off-duty assignments by the division. The bicycles originally belonged to the police department over 20 years ago and were recently located by current staff in storage. Repairs and upgrades were performed to ensure the bikes were functionable.

Anderson-Shiro FFA seniors recently competed in Texas Farm Bureau's first ever AgVentures Challenge. Students were required to create an agricultural product, develop a marketing pitch and present it to a panel of judges. Avery Hulsman was one of six State winners in Texas and was awarded a $2,000 scholarship. Her product was a pregnancy patch, for cattle, that detects when a cow is bred.

Navasota Lady Rattler senior guard Nala Richardson will continue her basketball and academic career at Blinn College. She signed her National Letter of Intent May 15. Richardson eclipsed 1,000 points scoring for the Lady Rattlers, was Academic All District, 25-4A Co-MVP, All-Region and All-State.

Anderson-Shiro’s Shelbi Belinowski signed her National Letter of Intent May 18 to continue her basketball and playing career at East Texas Baptist University. Belinowski scored over 1,000 points, made 23-3A First Team All-District and Academic All-District.

Navasota High School Choir’s Spring SINGABRATION concert May 18 treated the audience to a great concert featuring Pop Music. Several members of The Music Study Club of Navasota (MSCN), a member of Texas and National Federation of Music Clubs, attended the performance. Co-Presidents Carol Jean Gessner and Marilyn Bettes made a surprise presentation to the Director of Choral Activities, Jason Mincy.
