Many hours go into preparing for the fair that takes place in our county each year. This year was no exception as things had to be done a little different than normal years.
Read moreI attended the wedding of my oldest granddaughter last weekend. Of course, I got lost, again. I was only 2.9 miles from my turnoff but back in the area where the wedding was held, it seemed more like 29 miles. I only thought CR 302 was curvy, nope! However, there are those big arrows instructing you which way to turn prior to coming up on the curve. The weather was good for an outside casual attire event and the hosting family did a wonderful job for Stephanie and Brandon. Being the grandma, I had a corsage, too! Not sure it looked that good with jeans. With that said, I have a grandson-in–law and three more great grandchildren to add to this already crazy group.

The election has been postponed until Tuesday, July 14 with early voting beginning Monday, July 6.Monday, May 25 was Memorial Day. I hope that you remembered our men and women that served our nation and many of which gave their lives so that we might live in a free nation. There were American Flags placed on many of the graves of veterans in our local cemeteries. There are 42 veteran graves buried in the Evergreen Cemetery and 49 veterans buried in Martins Prairie Cemetery.

Read moreAs I sit here typing, I cannot help but remember the tornados that came thru our little community four years ago and left a trail of damage. It appears that most of the people who lost their homes have managed to rebuild and move on. The day after, I remember riding around with Kevin and Ms. Pauline just looking at all the downed trees, tin everywhere and homes gone. I admit from that point, wind and rain get my attention immediately. Hopefully God will have mercy on our little community during this tornado season.
