Famous stew supper Thursday

Winner number 29 of the 2nd Annual St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 52-week gun raffle was drawn Sunday, March 13. The winner of a Beretta 92G, 9mm is Nate Steere of Leander. The next drawing will take place Sunday, March 20.

Because of scheduling conflicts, there has been a change in location of the next two Knights of Columbus #4054 fish frys. On Friday, March 18, the Knights will hold a fish fry at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall, 11323 CR 304 in Stoneham. On Friday, March 25, the same Knights will hold a fish fry at KC Hall in Anderson on Hwy. 90.

Don’t miss the St. Joseph’s Altar Society Stew Supper set for Thursday, March 17 at their hall in Stoneham, 11323 CR 304.There will be a Mass at 5:30 p.m. and the stew supper will follow at 6 p.m. in the hall. This mouth-watering stew is homemade by the ladies of the Altar Society and the desserts are to die for – homemade delicious pies of any kind you can think of. Meal is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. A raffle also accompanies this event. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and can be bought at the supper.

In January, Ryan Rutledge hit his 20-year mark as an employee of Grimes County Sheriff’s Office. He was approached by the City of Todd Mission and after weeks of contemplation, he retired from the Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 11 to take the job of Police Chief of Todd Mission. Ryan was sworn in by Todd Mission’s City Manager Neal Wendele Thursday, March 10. Congratulations to Ryan, as well as his wife Megan and daughter Maylee, as they turn the page and enter a new chapter of life.

Mark your calendar for the upcoming 2nd Annual Grimes County Animal Rescue’s “A Cause for Paws” fundraiser Saturday, March 26 at the Grimes County Expo Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the dinner, dance and live auction is $20 presale and $25 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. The Derek Spence Band will be on hand with a tribute to George Strait. Tickets are available at outhousetickets.com or at the door. All proceeds will go toward the building of an animal shelter. Check it out at www.grimescountyanimalrescue.com.

The 4th Annual Classics at the Courthouse Car Show on Sunday was a success. There were over 100 classic vehicles lining Main Street. and all around the courthouse with a total of 92 registering to show off their prized possessions. Don was eager to show off his most recent purchase of a White 1966 Ford Mustang with Aqua interior. He also entered his 1979 Jeep CJ-7 “Renegade.” There were lots of spectators in town admiring the large variety of vehicles.
