Courtesy photos: The Grimes County True Blue Foundation (GCTBF) filled a request from Grimes County Sherriff Don Sowell by donating body cameras to the Sherriff’s Office Tuesday, Aug. 24. Lt. James Ellis explained how important quality cameras are to each case when it goes to trial, stating a bad photo can leave out key evidence. At a Special Meeting of the Grimes County Commissioners Court Wednesday, Aug. 25, commissioners approved a tax rate of $0.526933 per $100 valuation with a record vote. County Judge Joe Fauth reminded the court that this tax rate is unchanged from the rate approved one year ago for the 2020 budget, which was the first tax rate reduction in approximately 10 years.
