A 19-year-old is in custody after leading police on a chase reaching speeds of 130 miles per hour. According to a press release from Navasota Police Department, around midnight, Monday, Oct. 3, a Navasota Police Officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high-rate of speed then running a red light at the intersection of Washington Avenue and LaSalle Street. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the suspect fled south onto Texas State Highway 6.

Read moreTODD MISSION – The City of Todd Mission is in-line to receive funding for a mitigation grant from the Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG). Todd Mission City Manager Neal Wendele stated Texas General Land Office allocated $25,041,000 to the Brazos Valley Region as part of the Regional Mitigation Program. Wendele said Todd Mission could potentially receive $910,100.00 in grant funding. The minimum allocation for any entity according to the program requirements is $500,000.

The second Sunday of October each year brings this special event to the community. The parishioners of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson are presently preparing for this year’s 68th Annual Homecoming and Bazaar set for Sunday, Oct. 9. Fr. Giovanni Hung Nguyen and his parish members cordially invite you to join them for a day filled with fun, food and fellowship. The day will begin with a Mass at 10 a.m. After Mass, the bazaar will open with the serving of a barbecue beef and sausage dinner with homemade barbecue sauce and cowboy beans at 11 a.m. The famous St. Stanislaus coleslaw made by the women of the parish was at all the bazaars from 1979 through 2007 was brought back to the dinner line last year by the Borski family and volunteers. It will be back again this year. And don’t forget, you’ll have a variety of those delicious homemade desserts to choose from. Cost per plate will be $15. Sandwiches will be served later in the day for $5 each. You will be able to purchase a pound of brisket for $20 per pound and sausage for $15 per pound to take home.

Candy will be handed out by local organizations and businesses who will be set up along the 200 block of Holland Street behind City Hall. The one-way access will begin at Holland and LaSalle Street near Snowfl ake Donut. The route will end in the parking lot of the Navasota City Municipal Building where a costume contest will be held at 7 p.m. Costume Contest participants will be divided into the following age categories: 0 – 3 years of age; 4-yearolds – kindergarten; 1st grade – 3rd grade; 4th grade – 5th grade. Trophies will be awarded to participants placing first through third.
