St. Stanislaus 68th Annual Bazaar Oct. 9

ANDERSON - Signs of fall are setting in, the days are getting shorter, the air is getting cooler, there is football every weekend and the annual St. Stanislaus Catholic Church homecoming and bazaar is just around the corner. The second Sunday of October each year brings this special event to the community. The parishioners of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson are presently preparing for this year’s 68th Annual Homecoming and Bazaar set for Sunday, Oct. 9. Fr. Giovanni Hung Nguyen and his parish members cordially invite you to join them for a day filled with fun, food and fellowship. The day will begin with a Mass at 10 a.m. After Mass, the bazaar will open with the serving of a barbecue beef and sausage dinner with homemade barbecue sauce and cowboy beans at 11 a.m. The famous St. Stanislaus coleslaw made by the women of the parish was at all the bazaars from 1979 through 2007 was brought back to the dinner line last year by the Borski family and volunteers. It will be back again this year. And don’t forget, you’ll have a variety of those delicious homemade desserts to choose from. Cost per plate will be $15. Sandwiches will be served later in the day for $5 each. You will be able to purchase a pound of brisket for $20 per pound and sausage for $15 per pound to take home.

Events include booths and games for all ages as well as the St. Stan Card and Domino Shuffle. You can also take a chance on the football board at $50 per square - winner takes half. Tommy Szymczak will once again head up the live auction with lots of nice unique items, antiques, quilts and much more beginning at 1 p.m.

This year will be the 34th consecutive year that Brian Marshall and the Texas Paradise Band will provide live Polish music for dancing and entertainment from 1-5 p.m. Brian Marshall said, “we started out playing under a funeral tent and through the years have progressed to a homemade bandstand for dancing under the pavilion.” The raffle consisting of 10 prizes will be drawn around 5 p.m. You will be able to purchase lots of handmade and homemade items at Babusha’s Porch as well as get your free St. Stanislaus history book.

And don’t forget, the beautiful and historic church completed in 1917 will also be open for visitors to view. Come see the ceiling mural that was re-created from the original church but had been painted over many years back. The combination of the events of the day makes for a wonderful outing for the whole family.
