Navasota is hosting the 4th annual Freedom Festival Friday, June 30, in historic downtown including a parade, live music, fireworks and family fun. The Fourth of July Parade begins at 6 p.m. at Brosig Avenue and will travel west on Washington Avenue to 9th Street. Participation in the parade is free and does not require registration. Participants can begin lining up at 5 p.m. on Brosig Avenue.

Boy Scouts of America Troop 361 is on a path to have four new Eagle Scouts in the next 12 months. They will be visiting Texas State Parks, earning merit badges, attending summer camp at Camp Strake, canoeing in the Colorado River, camping during the April 2024 Solar Eclipse, and performing Eagle Level service projects for the Navasota Grimes County community.

Malerie Marzullo, the 6-year-old daughter Matt and Lindsey Marzullo of Pearland, was crowned Petite Miss Strawberry Queen at the 2023 Pasadena Strawberry Festival in Pasadena. Malerie also received medals for Photogenic Beauty, Best Model, Photogenic Personality and Most Beautiful. She is also the granddaughter of Douglas and Melinda Noto of Navasota.
