Mary (Molly) Goodnight, wife of renowned cattleman ranch owner Charles Goodnight of the Palo Duro Canyon region, is well known historically as founder of the Goodnight Buffalo herd by rescuing bawling calves of the slain buffalo in Texas during the last of the 1800s. One reads little of another accomplishment, the Goodnight Academy/College that opened its doors in 1898.

Fall began on Sept. 22. The weather was cooler but short sleeves were all that you needed to work outside. I took advantage and did some mowing. The wind was a bit rough, but it sure felt good to be outside. Travis saw me mowing so he stopped for a little visit.

Evergreen Baptist Church held a back to church special service Sunday, Sept. 19. The morning began with special guest David Crain leading worship. He led a variety of songs, most of which were new to us. He then brought an inspiring message. Following the service lunch was served in the fellowship hall. There were a good number of members and visitors present and they all were blessed being around each other.
