What a weekend! Mine started with baking the cross cake for Bean’s confirmation party. Due to my amateur status of decorating, it takes me all day because I stop and rest in-between the steps. Well, it turned out okay and Bean was pleased so I guess that is all that matters.

Read moreThe fundraiser for the youth of Evergreen Baptist Church held Saturday, May 1, at the Iola Fire Department was certainly a success. There were several hundred people that attended from all around the area. All the cookers did an amazing job with the fried fish, much of which was caught by local anglers. The fellowship was great, and the money raised will assist the Evergreen children with summer camp. Thanks to everyone that assisted in any way. May God bless you all.

Read moreClay and Cullen keep their parents on their toes, for sure. A while back Clay had a wreck that wasn’t his fault, and luckily all is well. As for Cullen, he had a wreck but not with a vehicle. His accident involved a horse, rope and his knee. Hopefully, once he has his surgery, he will be better, and these two young men can continue their “extracurricular” fun and let’s pray that they stay safe! I know that I will miss these guys when they leave for college in the fall.

Read moreGraveside services for Ross Allen Jarvis, 74, were held Friday, April 23, in the Martins Prairie Cemetery. He was born June 3, 1946, the son of Ross and Viola Allen Jarvis. He passed away April 15. Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No. 17 was in charge of the services with Clyde Collins officiating. Visitation was held at Hillier Funeral Home in College Station. Do remember his wife and other family members in your prayers.
