Lady Rattlers place 4th at Tarkington

The Navasota Lady Rattlers finished 2–2 at the Tarkington Holiday Classic to earn fourth place. They had wins over Hardin, 39-23, and Cleveland, 34-23. Losses included Splendora, 47-42, and Lumberton, 39-36.

Rattler soccer compete against alumni

Navasota High School soccer teams hosted alumni night Dec. 27, at Rattler Stadium. The Rattler varsity boys defeated the alumni, 8-3, while the Lady Rattlers fell to the alumni, 1–0. The evening also saw future Rattler soccer players in action at halftime of the alumni games.

It was nice to finally meet you

Although I’ve seen this lady many times around N.I.S.D., where she has worked for over seven years, I’ve never known her name or story. I’ve also seen her at my side job at Santa’s Wonderland, although we never spoke. I met with Freda Warren on a rainy Saturday morning. I didn’t bring any drinks with me, but later regretted not bringing a cup of coffee because I could have sat and talked with her forever. Mrs. Warren is quite the character! She had me laughing and writing down life tips, and I left our visit sad that our time was limited because of our busy schedules.

Commissioners adopt IRC Version 2021

Following committee recommendations, Grimes County commissioners approved adoption of the International Residential Code (IRC) Version 2021 in unincorporated areas of Grimes County. Commissioner Phillip Cox’s motion during the Dec. 18 Regular Meeting included keeping the Development Review Group intact.
