Veterans honored Friday

How ‘bout them Astros! Not only was the last game of the 2022 World Series exciting, it was equally exciting to see an Anderson native on TV. Stephanie (Kimich) Burzynski and son Hagan just happened to be on one of the “fan clips” throughout the evening. Stephanie is the daughter of Ricky and Debby Kimich.

 

The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be open Thursday, Nov. 10 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. in the back-parking lot of the Grimes County Fairgrounds in Navasota. Any resident of Grimes County will be served and will only need to show their driver’s license when they complete the once-a-year Client Assistant Intake form. Veterans Day is Friday, Nov. 11. Veterans will be honored all over our country that day. Anderson-Shiro Junior-Senior High School will host their annual Veterans Day Breakfast in the cafeteria at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. A Veterans Day program will immediately follow beginning at 10 a.m. in the gym. All area Veterans are invited and encouraged to attend. Time is running out to buy a raffle ticket, two or more for the Darren Cosby Benefit. Darren, husband of Stacey, was a longtime Ag teacher at Anderson-Shiro High School. Proceeds from the raffle will help cover medical costs his family has incurred recently. There are 24 great prizes at $20 per ticket. The drawing will be held Nov. 11 and you don’t have to be present to win. For raffle tickets or more information, contact Kari Lynn Eisenman, 936-825-5311.

 

Grimes County Senior Center will hold their annual fundraiser Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the center located at 129 S. Main St. in Anderson. A hot dog lunch including chips, dessert and a drink will be served from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. A single hot dog lunch will be $10, and a two hot dog lunch will be $12. There will also be a silent auction as well as raffle tickets for sale for $5 for a book of six tickets. Raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m. For more information call the center at 936-873-2818.

 

The Anderson-Shiro Elementary Fall Book Fair is set for Nov. 14-18 in the library. Come shop all week during school hours or until 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17. Perfect time to shop for Christmas. Thanksgiving holiday is Nov. 22-26. It’s hard to believe the holidays are here once again.
