Large attendance at Evergreen Fall Festival
Keith Civic Club held their monthly meeting Thursday, Oct. 27, at Keith Community Center with a small group of members and visitors attending. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. A variety of business was discussed during the meeting including discussing a new roof bid. Hopefully the money will be raised soon. The death of longtime member, Ruby Lavender Stuckey who passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, was mentioned. The garage sale was also discussed.
The Family Fall Celebration was held at Evergreen Baptist Church Wednesday, Oct. 26. There were lots of fun activities. Approximately 125 people attended. Among the activities were the cake walk, bingo and lots of food. Some attended for the first time.
Area residents were sorry to learn of the death of Don Edgar McDougald who passed away Oct. 23 in Livingston. His funeral was held in the Concord Cemetery Thursday, Oct. 27, with Brother Matt Carey officiating. He was born Oct. 3, 1961, the son of Norman and Dorothy Adams McDougald. He was a graduate of Iola High School. Preceding him in death were his parents and other family members. He is survived by his daughter Andrea McDougald and grandchildren, Clinton Sims and Teagan McDougald. Do remember them in your prayers.
A tombstone was recently erected in Evergreen Cemetery for Billy Williams. He was born Dec. 26, 1959 and died Dec. 12, 2021. He was the son of Robert and Elsie Glaesmann Williams. May his memory be forever blessed.
Sad to say Iola’s football game Friday, Oct. 28, ended in a 47-0 loss to Chilton. Before the game, seniors were honored as they were escorted on the field by their parents. May God bless all our kids.
During morning worship at Evergreen Baptist Church Sunday, Oct. 30, Debbie Goodman became a member of the church.
Bedias Masonic Lodge No 651 held their monthly meeting at their lodge hall Tuesday, Nov. 2 with a good number of members and visitors in attendance. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. A member of the lodge, Robert Bobby Isbell received his 50-year membership lapel pin and certificate. His wife Doris was with him and was given yellow roses. It was good to see them both. The area Masonic Lodge will be presenting tooth kits to first grade and preschool. Mike Ellis will deliver the kits to Iola students. There are 52 students. Kits will be delivered to other schools as well.
