Area churches hosting Christmas Eve services
Businesses have beautiful Christmas trees in their lobbies. I enjoy taking mental notes on how they are decorated, however I tend to lose those notes. Hallmark Christmas movies always has fabulous trees, but my checkbook or credit card would suffer! Citizens Bank in Navasota has my vote for best tree. Now, it is time to finish my last tree and move all these boxes.
Lately I have been to White Hall Store often. Martin always asks what I am doing, and I reply “getting gas.” He just laughs. It is always a good visit since that is where I actually get to talk to community people.
The WHCVFD did an awesome job Saturday at the BBQ sandwich sales. I learned how to use the square card reader. It took three people working with me, but I think the process has paid off for the good. All the buns were used and only a small portion of meat was left. Thanks to our loyal supporters.
The VFD monthly business meeting was held Monday with 24 members, two visitors and one new member present and a new member installed, Gabriel Mendez. There were updates on upcoming trainings, gear ordering for new members, nominations of officers for 2022 and a couple of financial decisions. The VFD will be having their family Christmas party on Dec. 20 with a potluck beginning at 6 p.m.
The first Saturday BBQ sandwich sale date has been changed for Jan. 2022 and will be postponed until the second Saturday, Jan. 8. By doing this, the VFD members can enjoy New Year’s Day with their families. Thank you for understanding.
My travels took me to Caldwell this week. I delivered a compact refrigerator/ freezer, to Butch Fields for his Christmas present. He has relocated to the CHI St. Joseph rehab since his health has made it difficult to live alone. The humorous thing is when he introduces me as his ex-wife. The maintenance man asked him, “man, just what did you do?” I laughed. As I expected, Butch asked where was his chocolate pie was, knowing full well his sugar count is very high due to medications.
Lynn Grove UMC will be worshipping at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. There will be a light meal served after the service. This is an invitation to attend worship and enjoy fellowship afterwards.
Salem will also have a Christmas Eve service, but not sure what time. We generally have a brief children’s program, which is a delight for everyone.
Am I the only one that did not know the Dollar Tree is no longer a $1? They really need to update their signage to the Dollar and a Quarter Tree.
