A memorial service followed 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Caleb Schoenck (Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church of College Station, Texas) officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Hertha was born in Otto, TX, on January 5, 1930, to August and Helena Wager Scherff. The family then moved to Kurten, TX where she started school and then graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. She then attended Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton, TX.
