White Hall News By Georgia Molitor

Last week my cousin, Cheryl Ketcham, (daughter of Barbara Molitor Phillips) came from Virginia and made sure she could meet with me while here. Knowing her, I decided Classic Rock was the best place to meet for lunch. Boy, was I correct! She owns Finley’s General Store, and the downtown Navasota area was just her cup of tea. Her dad was Jimmy Finley of Iola. Our stop at P Nemir brought laughter and giggles. Michelle and Mary were so informative. I could see those brain waves as she was checking out the merchandise. I got tickled when she said people in Virginia were cheap, meaning people would not pay the prices she saw at various shops in Texas.

Cheryl helped with Wreaths Across America this year and had the photos to prove it. Her husband, Bill, is retired Navy and she is all about veterans.

Did you know this? 988 Veterans Crisis Hotline: Veterans now have the option to Dial 988 then Press 1 to connect with caring, qualified responders for 24/7 crisis assistance. “During a crisis, every second counts,” said VA Secretary Denis McDonough. “This new, shorter number makes it easier for veterans and those who care about them to reach lifesaving support without having to be enrolled in VA benefits or health care.” While Dial 988 then Press 1 is a new option for contacting the Veterans Crisis Line, the original number, 1-800-273-8255 and press 1, remains available, and individuals can make contact via chat at VeteransCrisisLine.net/Chat or by texting 838255.

Please keep the family of Laura Pursley in your prayers as they work through their loss.

How about a barbeque chicken plate with all the fixings? That is on the menu for the annual White Hall Community Center fundraiser. There will be a gun raffle and a car show.

The White Hall community has several churches with lots of offerings for visitors.

Little Man witnessed his first high school basketball game. Several times he pointed to the court and said, “Naana.” That is Bryanna in Kohen language. He went back and forth from Bean, Aunt Nomie, JuJu, Uncle Butch, Gingi and his Mommy. He had a very good time.

Please add our sick and homebound friends to your prayer list. These friends include Lois Bell, Jean Fleischhauer, Margaret and Pastor Schultz, Sue Kolojaco, Mary Bauer, Rosa Finke, Delores Mitschke, Mary Whatley, Billie Wittenbach, Alexander Hanna, Troy Weigand, Shawn Welch, Wyndy Kimich, Clay Oncken, Kimberly Weiser, Bib Kapchinski and Betty Feldmann.
