Iola celebrates life of Landon Reed

The monthly food pantry at Iola Missionary Baptist Church was well attended. Evergreen Baptist Church was in charge of providing volunteers and several of their members attended. There were 84 families served including six new families. The pantry is open the third Saturday each month from 9-11 a.m. to anyone in need of a helping hand. Volunteers come the day before to get everything ready. 

Funeral services for Landon Reed Chatman were held Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Iola High School gym. He passed away Jan. 21. There was a full crowd of family members, friends and classmates. His was the third funeral for a young child. Burial was in Huntsville where his family members are buried. Remember his parents, grandparents, friends and loved ones in your prayers.

Members of Keith Civic Club are glad the new roof was installed on Keith Community Center. Lone Star Roof Systems completed the new roof in one day. If you haven’t seen the new roof, drive by and take a look. If you need a new roof consider giving them a call, 979-218-3662.

Iola-North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star No. 458 held their monthly meeting in North Zulch Monday, Jan. 23, with good attendance. The membership enjoyed a covered dish meal of chili and other foods brought by the members. Several members were out sick but there was still good attendance.

There was certainly a good amount of rain Tuesday, Jan. 24. Around 2-inches of rain fell. It was appreciated. That makes 4-inches so far this year.
