Rattlers remain in playoff hunt
Navasota picked up a pair of wins over Giddings 11-7 and Smithville 12-3 to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Rattlers improve to 3-5 in District 26-4A.
Navasota 12, Smithville 3
Kaleb Wisnoski dominated on the mound to lift Navasota past Giddings 12-3. He allowed only one hit through five innings, struck out six batters and surrendered one walk.
Dylan Bonnain came in to pitch two innings in relief, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out three.
Navasota struck first on a Cody Risner hit that plated Bonnain. Navasota tacked on three more runs in the second. Thomas Robinson scored and Bonnain hit a two-RBI double.
Bonnain and Risner continued their great nights, each driving in a run in the fourth-inning and giving the Rattlers a 6-0 lead.
Smithville cut the Rattler lead in half, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth-inning.
Navasota answered, scoring a pair of runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to finalize the score 12-3.
The Rattlers raked together 13 hits, including three Rattlers with three hits each. Risner had three hits and three RBIs, Robinson had three hits and three RBIs, Bonnain had three hits and two RBIs.
Brady Richards had two hits and John Lee and Logan Vela had one hit each.
Giddings 7, Navasota 11

Navasota has two games remaining on the schedule. They will play Thursday, April 18, at Caldwell and Tuesday, April 23, they will host LaGrange. Both games are slated for a 7 p.m. first pitch.
