Lady Rattlers conclude district
GIDDINGS — The varsity girls track team concluded District 26-4A without any runners qualifying for the area round.
Navasota had two area qualifiers in field events for the meet to be held Wednesday, April 17, in Sealy. Taniyah Warren punched her ticket with a third-place finish in long jump and Jakayla Jones qualified with a fourth-place throw in shot put.
Inclement weather delayed the running events for nearly a week.
The 4X200 meter relay team finished in fifth-place. Runners were Keauna Seaton, Ta’Shaunna Leigh, Mikayla Collins and Taniyah Warren.
Kiandrien Baker finished in sixth-place in the 100-meter dash.
Junior varsity
The Lady Rattler JV team put together impressive runs, including one first-place and two second-place finishes.
Navasota’s 4X200 relay team, consisting of Mia Nunez, Alaya Franklin, Za’Kaeya Young and Jayda Harris, set a new personal record with a time of 1:53 to win first-place.
The 4X100 meter relay team finished second. Team members included Bre’Ashia Burrell, Franklin, Klarissa Peterson and Harris.
Nunez finished second in the 200-meter dash, and Young finished fourth.
Princess Rodriguez placed fifth in the 400-meter dash and Elizabeth Trejo placed sixth in the 1600-meter run.
