Lady Panthers claw to district title

RICHARDS – A season that began with injuries and uncertainty transpired into an undefeated District 27-1A Championship for the Richards Lady Panthers.

#16 Richards (26-11, 8-0) has a bye in the 1A Bi-District round of the playoffs. They will face the Goodrich Lady Hornets (414, 3-3) in the Area Round with a date, time and location TBD. Goodrich defeated Kennard, 3-1, to earn a Bi-District Championship.

Richards wrapped up their final two games of the regular season with wins over North Zulch and Centerville.

The Lady Panthers beat North Zulch 3-0 (2510, 25-16, 25-21). Layna Francis led Richards with 11 kills. Abigail Bay had eight kills and Caroline Pool contributed with 14 assists.

Richards knocked off Centerville 3-0 (15-18, 25-20, 25-16). Francis had 14 kills and two aces. Bay had eight kills and Abigail Coroiescu had three blocks.
