Rita Bernadette Rigas Hill, 77, of Magnolia, died Monday afternoon at Houston Methodist West Hospital in Katy.

A gathering of family and friends was held from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, January 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Plantersville. A parish rosary led by Laveta Malek followed at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass celebrating Rita’s life took place 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 25, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Edward C. Kucera, Jr. as the celebrant. The rite of committal followed in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.

Rita was born Thursday, July 9, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Bernard and Rita Ruth Thompson Rigas. A resident of Magnolia since 1975, Rita was a retired self-employed accountant. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was a lector and member of the Altar Society.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Christopher Rigas.

Survivors include brothers, Bernard J. Rigas, Stephen J. Rigas, Paul G. Rigas, all of Tomball and Luke R. Rigas of Boston, MA; sisters, Catherine Kokkinis of Virginia, Loretta Nolan of MD, Andrea Logie of German Town, MD, Cecilia Rigas of Sulphur Springs, MD, Claire Rigas, Germaine Ranzi, both of Beltsville, MD and Martina Hollopeter of Tom-ball, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
