DIANA JANE ABAD 1952 – 2022

Diana Jane Abad, 69, was a caring mother, “G Ma”, sister and friend. She left this world peacefully at her family home on November 17.

Diana, affectionately known to many, was born and raised in Navasota to Pedro Abad and Donna Gonzalez Abad on December 21, 1952. She graduated from Navasota High School in 1971 and continued her education at Blinn College. 

Diana enjoyed spending time with family, her grandchildren, friends and her dogs. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, puzzles, sudoku, gardening and watching tv shows and movies. Diana had an uncanny ability to make others laugh with her humor and contagious laughter. She was a strong, generous, and caring friend that always thought of others. Diana will be dearly missed by all.

Diana shared her passion for learning and caring for others while a teacher’s assistant at Navasota ISD’s migrant program for several years. She retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after 24+ years of service as a Correctional Officer in Navasota. After retiring, it gave her the freedom to assist in raising her granddaughter and grandson the first few years of their lives. 

Diana is survived by her children, Joel Abad and Michele (wife), Kathy Arredondo and Chris (husband); brother, Robert Abad and Dawn (wife); sister, Andrea Paredes and Chris (husband); grandchildren, Aubree and Christian Arredondo; friends, Janie Flores, Steve Powell, Linda Dominguez Lopez and Mary Dale Abad; and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Pedro Abad and Donna Gonzalez Abad; brother Pedro Abad; and sister Donna Linda Abad.

While Diana’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember Diana in a way that honors her spirit. Her family invites you to join them in wearing her favorite color, Purple, and sharing your fond memories of her. A celebration of life ceremony will be held 10: a.m. Saturday, December 17, at Nobles Funeral Chapel.
