TxDOT explores school zone change

TxDOT reached out to Navasota ISD to determine if there was still a need for the school zone on Washington Avenue in Navasota. At one time the school zone was necessary as numerous students used the crossing to attend school. NISD provided TxDOT with a written letter stating the school zone is no longer needed because the students in surrounding neighborhoods are not zoned for Brule Elementary and the campus has a no walking policy. TxDOT is exploring if the school zone can be eliminated and explained there is a process for the school zone change which may take a while.
