Owl athletes receive track upgrade
ANDERSON - Anderson-Shiro CISD athletes will be running circles around the competition this year on a newly resurfaced track.
Anderson-Shiro Superintendent Scott Beene said the track has needed to be resurfaced for a while. Since the track was constructed there hasn’t been any additional work done to the surface. “We had some curb issues on the southwest end of the track that needed some repair as well as a couple of areas where the base mat was completely down to the base sur face,” he explained. “There were also areas of continued use that were worn more than other areas.”
Beene said there has been ongoing discussion about the resurfacing project for a while, and three bids for the work were received. The bids ranged from $104,500 to $265,848. At the May 9, ASCISD Board of Trustees meeting, the board approved the bid of $104,500 with Victory Track from the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area.
The project was completed over the summer and will be available for use by ASCISD students soon.
