Former Navasota man charged with assault, prostitution
COLLEGE STATION-Oran Isaiah, 33, and formerly of Navasota was arrested in College Station Thursday, Aug. 15, charged with compelling prostitution by force and assault family violence with previous convictions. Both charges are second-degree felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
According to reports College Station Police received a call from a woman around 6:15 p.m. Thursday. The woman stated she met Isaiah at a drugstore on Texas Avenue to exchange items that belonged to him. She claims Isaiah exited his vehicle and reached into her vehicle grabbing her keys out of the ignition.
As she attempted to retrieve her keys, she stated Isaiah grabbed her hair and slammed her head against his vehicle multiple times and drug her down the side of the vehicle. Police said the victim used pepper spray on Isaiah and fled into a nearby business and locked himself in the restroom.
While interviewing the victim she informed officers Isaiah had a woman in a nearby motel on the 2000 block of Texas Avenue he was forcing into prostitution. Police located the woman at the hotel and confirmed she was linked to escorting sites.
She claims to have been compelled into prostitution while living in Houston. The woman reported she knew Isaiah previously and he was going to assist her in relinquishing that lifestyle, but he allegedly used her phone number and photographed her. She claimed he made her perform sexual acts for clients in return for financial compensation.
She said she didn’t have transportation and Isaiah was providing her money to care for her 2-year-old son. According to her statement Isaiah is “crazy” and she feared he would harm her if she didn’t perform whatever he wanted her to do.
Isaiah was booked into the Brazos County Jail and held on an $18,000 bond.
