County expands Criminal Justice Advisory Committee
BY CONNIE CLEMENTS
Examiner reporter
The Grimes County Commissioners court convened a Special Meeting Wednesday, July 17, and appointed five additional individuals to the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee.
Judge Joe Fauth told commissioners, “This advisory committee is the committee that reviews grant requests that are submitted to payees, but they’re also submitted first to this committee. These individuals submitted to you score the applications for a particular grant, and on the basis of their recommendations, grant monies are paid out in order of the scoring as long as the money holds out.”
Fauth told commissioners that he was asked to increase the number of committee members because of scheduling conflicts that affected member participation when meetings were called which is 2-3 times per year.
Appointments approved were Sherry Fauth, Bob Goldstein, Plantersville Alderman Marilyn Bettes, Pct. 4 Commissioner Phillip Cox and NISD Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Dr. Ronnie Gonzalez.
Incumbents serving on the committee are Juvenile Probation Director Sherrie Barratt, GCSO Chief Deputy Todd Greene, Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2 Judge Lester Underwood and Crime Victims Coordinator Brenda Williams.
