Sounds of Summer a free concert series in Navasota continues this Friday, June 14, with a performance by local blues favorite Randy Pavlock. Breeze Band opened the series playing last Friday. Grupo Vital plays June 21 and Brown Sugar Band ends the series June 18. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. and lawn chairs and coolers are welcome.
If you missed St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church’s revival Wednesday, June 5, through Friday, June 7, you missed a mighty word from God. Speaker was Bishop Charles E. Richardson of Calvary 1st Baptist Church in Corpus Christi. Richardson grew up in Old Washington, TX.
Plantersville Baptist Church is planning a roaring good time at vacation bible school June 24, 25 and 26, from 9 a.m. till noon. There will be crafts, stories, activities, music, games, videos, snacks and friends. All children ages 4-11 are invited to participate. Online registration is available. There will be an early registration day at the church June 17, from 10 a.m. until noon. Navasota Girl Scout Troop 9067 is hosting a community sock hop June 22, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
There will be a Texas Flag Celebration Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Montgomery Community Center, 14420 N. Liberty, Montgomery. There will be food trucks, shopping and Epic, a Sam Houston Movie.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville will celebrate its 125th Homecoming Bazaar Sept. 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The church is located at 8227 CR 205.
A Freedom Festival will be held Saturday, July 6, from 8 a.m. till 3 p.m. in historic Montgomery. There will be a parade, barbecue cookoff, baking contest as well as other events.
