Veterans Day Parade Nov. 11
Thanks to White Hall Grocery, White Hall Café, White Hall Community VFD along with Salem Lutheran Church for inviting children to do their trick or treating in a safe environment. The Truck or Treat at the VFD had more visitors than last year. I like visiting with the children and parents. My great-grandson Kohen looked cute in his bull rider outfit. He had to have new boots, vest and jeans because he is getting so tall. My homemade chaps were just the right length. He ditched the big black cowboy hat for a plastic VFD hat and wanted to check out the fire trucks. Ken Cox invited him to sit in one and he was excited. For volunteers who worked to make this all happen, thank you.
Veterans Day, Nov. 11, will be celebrated with a parade, fundraiser drawings for Grimes County VFW Post 4006 Auxiliary and the Chamber of Commerce Reds, Wheats & Blues Festival from 3-8 p.m. There will be several bands. Tickets are $30 at the door and $25 presale. Visit www.navasotagrimeschamber. com for more information.
Line-up for the parade is 9-10 a.m. on Brosig Avenue and the parade begins at 10 a.m. All veterans are invited to be in the parade, Auxiliary members, and others. It doesn’t matter if you are a member of the VFW, American Legion or unaffiliated. The only request per the National VFW is no political groups or political candidates with marked vehicles.
Grimes County VFW Post 4006 Auxiliary is selling tickets for their fundraiser for $2 each or $5 for three. Monies will be used to help veterans and their families. We try to help our county veterans when we learn of a need. We will accept checks and cash. Tickets will be available prior and during the Festival at the Post. All prizes were donated, and businesses have been generous. Since we were unable to have our fundraiser last year, we would appreciate your help. Prizes will be drawn at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Post. The Auxiliary will also sale tickets for the bucket raffle during the festival.
The 150-year White Hall anniversary celebration is Nov. 18. Please contact former residents and current residents to come celebrate this special occasion.
