Well folks, Thanksgiving is almost here. I hope that each of you will have a wonderful day with your family members and friends. Make plans to have a wonderful day but remember all those who are less fortunate than you are.

Ed Costello filled in at the pulpit Nov. 17, during the absence of church pastor, Rev. Jeff Morgan who was in Fairfield with his family. Ed and his two sons Quinn and Aden who collected the offering, did a wonderful job.

Neither Evergreen Baptist Church nor Carlos Missionary Baptist Church will hold services Wednesday, Nov. 27, due to the following day being Thanksgiving.

There will be a Twilight Firelight celebration at Fanthorp Inn in Anderson Saturday, Nov. 30, from 4:30 p.m. till 7 p.m. There will be stagecoach rides from the courthouse to Fanthorp Inn. Experience this historic ride as if it was the 1850s. Upon arrival at the Inn you will take a journey back in time. Enjoy live music by the Star of the Republic Dulcimers and Celtaire String Band with dancing. There will also be campfire stories, cooking and living history reenactments. The Grimes County Courthouse will be pen as well. This will be lots of fun and I hope to see you there.

Upcoming events in the area include the monthly meeting of the Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No. 17 Monday, Dec. 2, at their lodge hall in Anderson. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal at 6 p.m. followed by the lodge meeting.

The second meeting will be the monthly meeting of the Bedias Masonic Lodge No. 651, Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the lodge hall in Bedias. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. and their lodge meeting at 7:30 p.m. All Masons are invited to attend.
