Happy Thanksgiving
Whitehall News
For the community members, please let me know your birthday and I will share in my column. I promise not to tell your age, unless you want me to.
Keith Gilbert, I apologize for not having you on the birthday list but thanks to social media, I have it now. Happy belated birthday to you.
The Courtney-Whitehall 4-H Club sends thanks to all who helped to make their spaghetti and bake sale fundraiser a success.
Sonshine Sisters met Tuesday due to previous obligations of some of those who attend. One of the funny parts of the day was the menu. Margaret brought a lemon cake; I brought a lemon pie and Mrs. Beth came with lemon cookies. Pucker up for the dessert! It was another good day of laughter, friendship and dominoes. We are anxious for Ms. Pauline to return and challenge us a little more.
Grimes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4006 and Auxiliary met Thursday for their monthly business meeting. The speaker this month was an attorney from Lone Star Legal Aid. She talked about wills, power of attorney, guardianship, trusts and other things that I have no clue what they really are. If you are a veteran and need legal assistance, they have an office in Bryan, and it appears they work to assist veterans.
I am a Hallmark movie fan even though I have watched the same movies multiple times. Perhaps they are my favorite because there is always a happy ending. Granted, our lives do not seem like a Hallmark movie the Son-shine Sisters agree, we should count our blessings instead of what is wrong in our lives. One of my favorite days is Thanksgiving when we should truly focus on all the good things we have. Granted, Thanksgiving should be every day but on the official holiday my daughter Joni cooks the entire meal for family and anyone else who may want to come or receive a to-go plate. This is the first year she has asked me to make one dessert and it might get hidden from the rest of the family, a pumpkin roll. I hope everyone can celebrate with family and be thankful for all the good things in your life.
