Lynn Grove Homecoming Oct. 16
Here it is already Thursday and I have not started my weekly column. Guess I need to start typing! This week has been one with doctor appointments again. It’s that time of year. So far, I’m good. Well, that may be a matter of opinion.
Have you ever heard of the Blue, Silver and White Star military families? I don’t see this addressed often except in the program books we receive in the Auxiliary. According to those handouts, A Blue Star represents a family member in active-duty service. The Silver Star represents a family member wounded or injured in a war zone. And a White Star represents those who have had a close relative who served in the military and lost them to suicide. The Gold Star is to recognize and honor those who have lost a son or daughter while serving the US Armed Forces in a war zone. The official recognition day is the last Sunday in September. Don’t forget free bingo is still going on at Grimes County VFW Post 4006 every Tuesday. There is popcorn, snacks and a light meal available. Bingo begins at 5:30 p.m. and generally lasts until 7 p.m. A friend told me she had fun this week playing bingo.
Oct. 16 is the 132-year Homecoming celebration at Lynn Grove Methodist Church. Worship service will begin at 11 with a catered meal to follow. RSVP if attending on the church Facebook page or email lynngroveumc@yahoo.com.
Gabriel Goode is doing much better now and is able to attend school. Keep him on your prayer list as he still needs them. Also include mom Brittany, dad Preston and siblings, Cielo and Sylvia to your list.
Ghost, goblins and even kiddos are invited to come to the White Hall Community VFD station on Oct. 31. The bays will open around 6 p.m. Come let your children take a picture on the fire truck and ask the firefighters questions about what they do.
Please add our sick and homebound friends to your prayer list. These friends include Mary Martin, Leon Gorney, Barbara Gorney, Lois Bell, Jean Fleischhauer, Margaret and Pastor Schultz, Sue Kolojaco, Mary Bauer, Rosa Finke, Marilyn Frenzel, Delores Mitschke, Mary Whatley, Billie Wittenbach, Shawn Welch and Mr. and Mrs. Rimes.
