The 7th annual Birthday Bash at the White Hall Community Center was successful. Thanks to all the people who took time to come share their beautiful cars. The weather turned out cool to begin with but warmer as the day went on. Thanks to the guys who come out really early in the morning and get those pits going. The food was good. These functions take many members, hours of planning and I personally appreciate those who made it happen. It was a good day. I stayed busy and I managed to get a bit of sunburn.

Grimes Health Resource Center is opening a community clothes closet at the resource center. This is a place that you can donate clothes and shoes. They will set up a grand opening event for the first part of May.

Union Grove Baptist Church Youth will host a Crawfish Boil Fundraiser Sunday, May 7, at 11:30 a.m., immediately after the church service. Dinner is $20 per person and all profits will send youth to summer camp at Piney Woods Church Camp. The meal menu will include crawfish, potatoes, corn, garlic toast, dessert and a drink. Thank you so much for your help! Youth ministers are Sam and Heather Robinson.

A team of six Union Grove ladies have been volunteering weekly at the Christian Community Center (also known as Navasota Food Pantry). Team members include Judy Price, Sheri Weathers, Lucia Harden, Betty Hitzeman, Diana Armstrong and Becca Papadimitriou. Volunteer duties include packing client orders, cleaning the building, restocking shelves and answering the phone.

Food supplies at the pantry have been lower than normal this year. Director Pat Gaston welcomes community or church donations during regular pantry hours Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon. Food items most needed are peanut butter and jelly, canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned soup, canned chili, spaghetti noodles, spaghetti sauce; macaroni and cheese, tuna, hamburger helper, instant mashed potatoes, one-pound bags of beans and rice, breakfast cereal, milk (evaporated or powdered) and cornbread mix.

Cash donations are also welcome. Christian Community Center is located at 814 N. LaSalle, in Navasota. Pat Gaston can be reached at 936-825-7454.

Please add our sick and homebound friends to your prayer list. These friends include Lois Bell, Jean Fleischhauer, Sue Kolojaco, Mary Bauer, Rosa Finke, Mary Whatley, Billie Wittenbach, Alexander Hanna, Troy Weigand, Shawn Welch, Delores Mitschke, Glenn Binder and Betty Feldmann.

Please keep the Cox Family in your prayers. Little Elijah was born Tuesday, April 25, but he did not make it. He is in the hands of Jesus.
