This Saturday, May 6, is the election for school board members, city councils, and here in Anderson, the most important is the school bond issue. There has been lots of controversy over this issue, which is common in all bond elections, but common sense will tell you our district is growing in leaps and bounds and will only grow more with all the new subdivisions coming into the district. So, we will have to build to provide space for what’s coming quickly. Common sense will also tell you if we wait until we are forced to make these changes, taxpayers will pay much more in taxes. So please use your “common sense” and vote Yes for Proposition A.

My cousins Greg and Yvonne Mount of Montgomery are very proud of their son Tyler Mount of upstate New York. After graduating from Montgomery High in 2008, Tyler chose to attend St. Edward’s University in Austin in hopes of pursuing theatre professionally. Graduating from St. Edward’s in 2013, Tyler began his professional career at the age of 22 when he stage-managed four Broadway shows in four years. In the last decade he has compiled a long list of credits and has been honored with three Tony Awards and a Grammy in addition to many other prestigious awards. Tyler is the youngest person to be so decorated and is now serving as CEO and Founder of Henry Street Creative. Tyler also teaches master classes to Theatre students in addition to guest lecturing and serves on the St. Edward’s University Humanities Advisory Board. At St. Edward’s in Austin on Friday, April 21, Tyler was honored with the St. Edward’s University Alumni Achievement Award.
On Sunday, April 30, the Sowell family held their Easter/Spring gathering at our home. It was a beautiful and relaxing day where we enjoyed visiting and eating delicious food, appetizers and desserts. Days like that remind me of when I was growing up and we went to the home of my grandparents, John and Rosa Herzog in Dobbin after church for Sunday dinner and visiting until dark quite often. Those were the days.
