Visitation with the family and friends was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, at Lindley-Robertson- Holt Funeral Home. Mrs. Vela Mae (Holsenbeck) Becker, 80, of Navasota, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation was held Wednesday, September 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel, 402 East Blackshear, Navasota, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1530 E. Washington, Navasota, with Reverend Matthias Dinger officiating. Interment followed in Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Joann Elizabeth Schoonmaker Cole, 78, passed into her next life on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Joann was born in DeKalb, Illinois on October 13, 1944, to Ralph Ellis and Thelma Hulda Haithcoat Schoonmaker. She was the youngest of three daughters. Her childhood and early adult years were spent in Illinois. Joann graduated from Genoa (Illinois) High School and later attended Blinn Junior College.
