He married Shirley Arnecke on January 21, 1956 and they were married for 51 years. They had two children, Debbie Roper and husband Kerry, and David White and wife Darlene; four grandchildren, Amy and husband Mike, Bryan and wife Katie, Kalynn and husband Gary, and Kyle; along with five great-grandchildren, David, Katie, James, Kelly Ann, and Luke.
