Navasota senior goalie Juan Vargas will continue deflecting shot attempts at the next level. Vargas signed his National Letter of Intent May 21 to continue his academic and soccer career at McPherson College in Kansas. Vargas helped lead Navasota to the UIL 4A State Semifinals. He was selected to the all-region team and represented the Rattlers at the TASCO All Star Game. He is the son of Juan and Eloisa Vargas.

The Anderson–Shiro Owl signed his National Letter of Intent May 24 to play football for the Millsap College Rangers. Owl head coach Brad Hodges said Goodwin is great athletically, academically and has great character.

Grimes County Retired School Personnel Association made their final delivery stop at Brule Elementary in Navasota for their annual children’s book project. The mission is to give books to each child in Pre-K classes throughout Grimes County. Books were purchased with donations.This year each child received two books. Many Grimes County Pre-K students don’t own books. Books are carefully screened before distribution. Donations to the annual GCRSPA Children’s Book Project are welcome.
