After a public hearing with no comments against, council approved Ordinance No. 1048-24 and the application from Neil Martensen and Neilious, LLC, for a specific use permit for the operation of a vendor market at 202 Holland Street.

The Navasota Public Library has received a $7,627 grant from the Tocker Foundation. It is a family foundation that supports rural public libraries in Texas cities serving a population of 12,000 or less. Librarian Lindsey Cox said the number of Library patrons is approximately 8,417. Including the current grant, this brings the total amount of Tocker Foundation grant monies to $98,845. Past grants were used for microfilm digitization of the Navasota Examiner and to replace the carpet in the Library children’s area.

Kurtis Landry and Taryn Savage, both of Iola, were honored by Angelo State University in San Angelo. Landry graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. Savage earned a spot on the San Angelo Dean’s List for the spring semester. Dean’s list students must maintain a minimum of a 3.25 GPA. She is majoring in communications.
