Southern Charm, located at the corner of Railroad Street and McAlpine, is in what has been coined the «Railroad District» of Navasota. The Grimes County Commissioners Court held a Regular Meeting Thursday, March 3, and approved a Resolution opposing HB 749 and SB 234 which, if passed would prohibit counties, school districts and municipalities from having a voice on legislation impacting those governmental entities. The motion was made by Commissioner Barbara Walker and seconded by County Judge Joe Fauth. The bill as written restricts use of taxpayer funds for lobbying activities.

Over 10,000 people enjoyed music, dancing, food, friends and family in downtown Navasota at the ninth annual Texas Birthday Bash Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6. Headliner Tracy Lawrence was mesmerized when he stepped on stage and saw the amount of people celebrating the birth of Texas. At approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, Navasota PD officers were dispatched to a train versus pedestrian accident.
The victim, 71 year old Blanch Steward from Navasota, is in critical condition.

Grimes County Commissioner Barbara Walker and Constable Wes Male were among those on hand at a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony for Watts Financial Services at their new location, 201 West Washington Avenue in Navasota. Launched in 2011 and formerly located on LaSalle Street, Watts Financial serves to assist individuals and small businesses with their tax filing needs. Business owner Yata Stewart has more than eleven years of experience in the industry preparing filings. Mrs. Stewart expressed that she is excited to serve the Navasota and surrounding communities.
