Admittedly, I am a septuagenarian female that teaches in retirement, in an elementary Christian school. Read: I don’t do boxing. But, somehow, a ten-year-old granddaughter was insistent about watching the fight between Jake Paul and Iron Mike Tyson Friday night. I don’t know why. Boxing and fishing both leave me underwhelmed. My grandfather desperately tried to make me a fishing person. Didn’t work. My own father, who loved fishing, was smarter and was jubilant to leave my chatty, active, distracted self at home with my mother. My granddaughter and I both fell asleep long before the fight, but I watched Saturday morning and came away with sad comments for leadership. No one will much care, but I get to say it, anyway.

A few weeks ago, there was one at city hall hosted by the Navasota Examiner and the City of Navasota. At the end of the event there was a door prize drawing where a young man won a cool prize.
