Mancuso recognized

Josh Mancuso has been recognized for his baseball performance in the summer Texas Collegiate League. The Anderson-Shiro High School graduate from the Acadiana Cane Cutters was cited on the postseason all-league team.
A left-hander for Nicholls State University, he started 11 of his 15 appearances for Acadiana and finished with a 5-2 record and one save. He had a 2.93 earned run average and struck out 57 in 49 innings.

Pitcher Tyler Eppler improved his record to 5-7 for the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization with an Aug. 13 win over Hanwha. The 29-year-old out of Navasota High allowed seven hits and three earned runs in six innings of the start and struck out five. The righthander had a 4.28 ERA in 24 games, including 19 starts.
Football
Bedias resident Blaine Hoover is a defensive lineman for Tarleton State University. He played the past two years for University of the Incarnate Word. Past Rattler Xavier Steptoe is a freshman wide receiver for Hardin-Simmons University. Ja’Mar Jessie is a redshirt freshman quarterback for Blinn College. He played for the Rattlers.
Volleyball
Anderson-Shiro alumna Ahna Merrell had 10 kills and led Coastal Bend College with a .231 hitting percentage during a win over Ranger. The sophomore middle blocker added two digs.
