Florence, a lifelong resident of Grimes County, graduated from Richards High School in 1960 and later graduated from Cox’s Beauty Academy in Huntsville. It was on October 24, 1962 that she married Martin Albert Lara at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church. To this union three children were born, Suzanne Renee, Michelle Rose and Stephen Martin.
Florence worked as a beautician for 30 years with a shop at her home. In doing so, she was able to work and wouldn’t miss any of her children’s many activities. She later became a substitute teacher and became a “second mom” to many of her children’s friends who would come to the house.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Leonard Kroll, Jr. and sisters, Clara Watson, Margaret Kroll, Katherine Rod and Christine Nobles.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Martin Lara of Anderson; children, Suzanne (Suzy) Bennett and husband Ronny of Richards, Michelle (Shel) Profili and husband Robert of Anderson and Stephen (Stevie) Lara and wife Tiffany of Iola; a sister, Helen Carlock of Spring; her pride and love of her life, four grandchildren, Haley Bennett, McCoy and McCray Profili and Kaley Lara and a great grandson, Cooper Marshall.
