Smith promoted to Lieutenant
Martha Smith has served with Grimes County Sheriff’s Office for 19 years, and Friday, Feb. 4, she was promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant.
During her tenure at the Sheriff’s Office, Smith served as the Administrative Assistant, obtained her jailer’s license, dispatcher’s license, and then attended the TEEX Central Police Academy to receive her Texas Peace Officer’s License.
After serving on patrol for five years, Smith took a position as School Resource Officer at Anderson-Shiro CISD. Smith left GCSO to serve at the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office for a couple of years in their SRO program. She returned to GCSO to the SRO Division serving Anderson, Iola, part of Navasota, and Richards ISD’s. She was later promoted to Sergeant over the SRO Division.
Smith also serves as the Law Enforcement Liaison on the Grimes County Crime Stoppers Board and serves as Secretary for the Grimes County True Blue Foundation. In 2005 Martha was selected to be the Officer of the Year at the Annual Grimes County Crime Stoppers Banquet.
During the search for Christopher Ramirez, a three-year old who went missing in Grimes County in 2021, Smith played a vital role in being there to comfort and be the voice for Christopher’s family. For her role she has received many accolades but none greater than a newfound friendship with the family.
Smith previously worked for Grimes County Justice of the Peace Pct. 3/4 and the District Attorney’s Office.
