Child perishes after being found in pond
An 18-month old boy, River Jaxton Blair, who was found face-down in a pond near County Road 302 and Lakeshore Drive died Thursday, Dec. 16, at 5:42 p.m.
The child is survived by his parents Michael Blair and Heather Vowels.
Grimes County Sherriff’s Lieutenant James Ellis said a 911 call was received about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, from the father, Michael Blair, who said his 18-month old snuck out of the house, possibly through a side door, and was located in a nearby pond.
Ellis stated the father jumped into the pond and began administering CPR. The child was air-lifted to Texas Children’s Hospital where he remained in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) before passing away Thursday.
