Tuesday, Dec. 7 was Pearl Harbor Day. New flags were placed on the graves of veterans buried in the Evergreen Cemetery. One of which was for Weyman Boney Blount who was on the Battleship Arizona. His remains are on that ship. His marker is beside his parents, Robert O. and Lillia Dale Burns Blount. He was born March 21, 1920 and died Dec. 7, 1941. May his memory and those of his shipmates forever be blessed. There are 46 veterans buried in the cemetery and 49 buried in Martins Prairie Cemetery. I noticed their graves have new flags as well.

A memorial service for Wendy S. Brown, age 57, was held at Iola Church of Christ Saturday, Dec. 4. She died at her home Nov. 30. There was a meal provided for family and friends prior to the service. She was born July 30, 1964 in Macon, Georgia, the daughter of David Skaugstad and the now present Connie Davis Francis. She was a loving daughter and mother. Brown is survived by her parents and her two sons, Peyton Ray and Ethan Earl Brown. She will be missed by all of her family who loved her.

To send flowers to the family, they can be delivered to 23365 FM 39 in Iola or to the family, Connie Francis, 16512 FM 244 in Iola, Tx. 77861. Her remains will be buried in Evergreen Cemetery. Remember all of her loved ones in your prayers.
